Streamline Your Cloud Costs with Cloudshot
The Cloudshot's Cost Analytics dashboard provides a detailed breakdown of cloud spending, including accumulated costs (what you have already spent), forecasted costs (predicted future spending), and total costs (combining both) for a selected time period.
Steps:
- Navigate to the 'Cloudshot' Menu.
- Select the 'Cost Analytics' option.
Let's get started:
Step 1: Select Cloud Accounts- Use the 'Cloud Accounts' dropdown to choose which accounts to include in your analysis—you can select 'All' to see everything at once.
Step 2: Adjust the Date Range
- The 'Date Range' selector enables seamless switching between various time periods—for now, we will select 'This Month' to analyze the current month's cost data.
Step 3: Set the Historical Start Date
- Set your 'Historical Start Date' to control how far back your data should go—by default, we will show you the last 3 months.
Step 4: Apply Tag Filters
- Take advantage of 'Tag Filters' to drill down into specific environments or projects—for now, we have selected the tag 'environment: production' to see only the costs associated with production resources.
Step 5: Generate the Report
- When you're ready to generate your report, just click the 'Generate Report' button at the bottom right, and it will compile all your selected data into a comprehensive analysis.
Step 6: Review Analysis Logs
- After generating your report, you can check the logs by clicking on the chat bubble icon in the top right corner to see what happened during the analysis.
- You can also download the PDF report of 'Cost Analytics' and share it with your team for collaborative review and planning.

- Examine the table at the top to see accumulated costs ($11,984,000), forecasted costs ($11,118,000), and total costs ($19,292,000) for all accounts, with breakdowns for AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Study the 'Cost Analysis with Combined Accumulated and Forecast Data' line graph to observe cost trends from Jan-2024 to Mar-2025, comparing AWS, Azure, and GCP and combined totals.
- Review the 'Cost Distribution by Account' bar chart to compare accumulated and forecasted costs across accounts, such as AWS($7,000,000 accumulated, $3,000,000 forecasted), Azure, and GCP.

Step 10: Click on the '+'Button
- In the Cost Analytics section, locate the '+' button next to an account or tag.
- Click on it to expand and view detailed cost information.
Step 11: View Cloud Accounts and Resources
- Once expanded, you will see all cloud accounts categorized under AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Each cloud account displays a list of resources associated with it.
Step 12: Analyze Cost Breakdown
- For each resource, the cost is divided into three sections:
- Accumulated Cost: The actual usage cost incurred so far.
- Forecasted Cost: The estimated cost for the upcoming period.
- Total Cost: The sum of accumulated and forecasted costs.
Step 13: Make Informed Cost Decisions
- Use the breakdown to track spending on specific resources.
- Identify high-cost resources and optimize your cloud usage to reduce expenses.
