Cost Optimization Center

The Cost Optimization Center provides actionable insights to help reduce cloud spend by identifying idle, underutilized, and misconfigured resources.

Select Account

On the Cost Optimization Center, click on the Select Accounts dropdown to view all available cloud accounts linked to your profile.

Each account is labeled by its respective cloud provider — for example:
• Azure
• AWS
• GCP
• Office 365

Check the box next to the desired account(s) to include them in your optimization analysis.
The selected account will appear highlighted

You can select multiple accounts if you have access permissions to more than one.

Generate Report

After selecting the required account(s), click on the Generate Report button to view cost optimization insights.

The system will analyze cloud spend data and display the following summary metrics at the top of the dashboard:

  • Total Average Cost – The current monthly cost across all analyzed resources.

  • Potential Savings – Estimated cost reduction achievable by implementing the provided recommendations.

  • Idle Resources – Total number of resources identified as idle or underutilized.

  • RI / SP Savings – Estimated monthly and annual savings achievable through Reserved Instances or Savings Plans.

Summary Overview
After generating the report, the Summary tab provides a high-level overview of your cloud cost optimization insights. This section consolidates all key financial metrics and environmental impact estimates for easy interpretation.

Here’s what you’ll find in the Summary section:

  • Estimated Annual Savings – Displays the total potential yearly savings based on identified optimization opportunities. This represents the total cost reduction achievable by implementing the suggested actions.

  • Cost Reduction Potential (%) – Shows the percentage of total costs that can be optimized, giving you a quick snapshot of overall efficiency potential.

  • Annual Savings (CO₂e) – Estimates the equivalent carbon emission savings (in kilograms) that can be achieved through optimization — helping track sustainability goals.

  • Optimization Readiness – Indicates the total number of actionable recommendations and the corresponding resources ready for optimization.

  • View All Recommendations – Click this button to navigate to a detailed list of recommendations for each identified resource.

Resource Optimization Recommendations
After reviewing the Summary, navigate to the Recommendations tab to explore detailed cost-saving opportunities for your selected accounts. This section lists all optimization insights identified across your cloud resources.

Here’s how to use this section effectively:

  • Search and Filter Options – Use the search bar to filter recommendations by name, type, location, account, reason, or specific recommendation. You can also apply filters for priority level (High, Medium, Low) and resource type for focused analysis.

  • Overview Panel – Displays the total number of recommendations and resources analyzed, along with the total potential monthly savings calculated from all suggestions.

  • Recommendation Cards – Each resource entry displays the following details:

    • Resource Name and Type (e.g., Microsoft.Compute/virtual Machines)

    • Account and Region information

    • Current Monthly Cost and Potential Monthly Savings

    • Priority Level (e.g., High) and Status (e.g., Idle, Underutilize

  • Click on any recommendation card to open the detailed view.

Detailed Recommendation View
When you click a recommendation, the system presents in-depth insights for that resource, including:

  • Idle Reasons – Highlights specific underutilization causes such as low CPU or network usage.

  • Utilization Details – Displays metrics like CPU utilization, network activity, disk activity, and last activity date to help assess resource performance.

  • Recommended Actions – Provides actionable steps such as:

    • Resize VM – Suggests resizing the resource to a more cost-efficient configuration.

    • Resize to RI Size – Recommends shifting to an existing Reserved Instance for further savings.

  • Savings Breakdown – Shows the estimated monthly savings, new estimated cost, and percentage reduction.

  • Environmental Impact – Displays the estimated carbon emission savings (CO₂e) from implementing the recommendation.

Each recommendation includes buttons like Resize VM or Resize to RI Size, allowing you to take direct optimization actions or review the technical details before execution.

Exporting Reports

After reviewing your cost optimization insights and recommendations, you can export the report for documentation or collaboration purposes.

These exports can be shared with DevOps, FinOps, for further review and remediation planning.
